The Economics of Industrial Research & Innovation (IRI) is a scientific project carried out within the Directorate B: Growth and Innovation of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC).
The project aims at providing EU policy-makers and the business and academic communities with robust empirical evidence and analysis on the contribution of private-sector R&D to the growth and employment of the European economy.
The EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard provides economic and financial data and analysis of the top corporate R&D investors from the EU and from abroad. It is based on company data extracted directly from each company's Annual Report.
The Scoreboard is published annually in order to provide a reliable, up-to-date benchmarking tool for comparisons between companies, sectors, and geographical areas, as well as to monitor and analyse emerging investment trends and patterns.
Previous Scoreboards by year:
From 2006 it annually collects data from companies on current and expected changes in business R&D investment activities. It looks at the factors shaping industrial R&D, technology strategies and technology acquisition processes. It targets the top 1000 R&D investors from the EU.
Previous Surveys by year:
The IPTS Working Papers on Corporate R&D and Innovation shed light on economic and policy questions related to industrial research and innovation and their contribution to the European competitiveness.
Mainly addressed to policy analysts and the academic community, these are scientific papers (policy relevant, highlighting possible policy implications) and early-stage scientific publications.
Find papers issued by year:
Policy Briefs aim at presenting the results of IRI scientific work to a policy audience, to promote exchange and discussion that ultimately would lead to a reinforced evidence-based policy support.
